Conservationists behind the Save Swanscombe Peninsular Campaign have said that a legal action taken out by Paramount against London Resort should be “the nail in the coffin for the doomed idea” adding it is now time for Secretary of State for the Environment Michael Gove to remove the NSIP from the site.
Donna Zimmer of the Save Swanscombe Campaign said: “This legal action really should be the final straw and the time has come to end the threat that looms over what is a haven for nature and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
“I would urge Michael Gove to use the powers available to him to ensure Swanscombe Peninsular is saved for future generations to come so our vision for the area can become a reality.”
Jamie Robins of Buglife one of the conversation groups supporting the campaign said: “Buglife, Kent Wildlife Trust, CPRE Kent and the RSPB have continued to voice their concerns over the need to protect this precious habitat. The latest development should be the nail in the coffin for this doomed idea and we stand with the Save Swanscombe Peninsular Campaign in asking Michael Gove to remove the NSIP.”
