Buglife have launched Bee-autiful Bees, a 2016 calendar which will help save these amazing insects. The Bee-utiful Bee calendar is packed with close-up photos of bees on flowers alongside interesting facts and gorgeous illustrations. The really great news is that 100% of the profits will help Buglife continue their work to protect and save our native bees.
Eight out of ten of our wildflowers are dependent on bees to reproduce, whilst one in every three mouthfuls of food we eat is similarly dependent. However since the Second World War we have lost 97% of our wildflower meadows which provide essential food resources for our pollinators. As a result, bees and other pollinating insects are declining at a rapid rate.
Paul Hetherington, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Buglife said “Bees are essential to life as we know it. Not only will you get a useful calendar, you will also be helping our bees. Every 50p raised can buy seed to sow an extra square metre of wildflower meadow.”
