Are you passionate about the small things that run the planet? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team and help to make a real difference for some of Cornwall’s most threatened invertebrates.
Buglife is recruiting a part-time (4 days per week) Conservation Assistant to work alongside our Project Officer and support delivery of our Kernow Wyls project, which is made possible with the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, Kernow Wyls is working with landowners and communities along the north and south Cornish coasts to both restore wildflower-rich habitat for pollinating insects and undertake actions to support a suite of our most threatened coastal invertebrates including the Large Scabious Mining Bee (Andrena hattorfiana), the Long-horned Bee (Eucera longicornis) and the Hornet Robberfly (Asilus crabroniformis).
You will work closely with the Project Officer to help plan and deliver habitat work including species-rich grassland restoration along B-Lines in Cornwall. You will help with community outreach and will organise and deliver events such as talks, workshops and bee survey days as well as producing outreach materials. You will also work with local schools, producing and delivering a series of themed sessions for primary school children.
This role is fixed term for 12 months, based on 4 days a week. You will be based at our Plymouth office, although home working will be possible. A flexible approach to the working pattern will be considered for the successful candidate.
