Species Reintroduction – It’s Not Just Beavers!

Thursday 3rd April, 2025 - 11:45 am - 2:00 pm

FarmED, Honeydale Farm, Station Rd, Chipping Norton OX7 6BJ, UK

Prof Karim Vahed, Buglife England Manager, shares tales of insects and other overlooked animals successfully reintroduced in the UK over the years.

When people think about species reintroductions, the emphasis of late has tended to be on large vertebrate species, such as Beavers, Lynx and Golden eagles. In this talk, Professor Karim Vahed showcases some of the excellent work on invertebrate reintroductions in the UK that has taken place since the 1970s, such as the Wart-biter Bush-cricket and Large Blue Butterfly and will reflect on the lessons learned from these projects.

Join FarmED for a Lunchtime Talk where you can find out all about the insect life that has been reintroduced into the UK, there will be plenty of time to ask questions to our speaker. This will be followed by a delicious farm-to-fork lunch in the FarmED Cafe.
