Join Species on the Edge Project Officer, Caitlin McLeod, on this FREE workshop which will focus on two rare species found in Aberdeenshire – the Northern Brown Argus butterfly and the Bordered Brown Lacewing.
The workshop will look at identification of the two species, their ecology and the surveys required to identify them and their potential habitats.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some existing knowledge wishing to learn more about these threatened species. By the end of the session, you will have the skills needed to identify the insects and their foodplants and have an awareness of the information which will be helpful to the project. In the morning there will be a Powerpoint presentation indoors followed by a field session at the coast near Stonehaven in the afternoon. Lifts can be shared to the field site.
Species on the Edge is an ambitious programme for species recovery in Scotland, that aims to take action over 37 declining and threatened species across Scotland’s coasts and islands. The aim is to increase recording and knowledge of these species whilst also carrying out essential conservation work – all with community involvement.
