Calling invertebrate recorders – help us record the insects and other invertebrates of Lesnes Abbey Wood in Bexley.
Join like-minded people with an interest in recording wildlife observations for a day identifying and recording invertebrates in an informal environment. Naturalists of all levels (from beginner to expert) will be able to share their experiences with peers and help one another improve their knowledge and build confidence in biological recording.
This event is aimed at adults only. It’s free to attend and invertebrate recorders of all abilities are welcome, but booking is essential.
We’ll be joined by Bumblebee Conservation Trust at 10 am for a presentation about their Buzzing in the East End Project. Participants will then have one of two options:
- Bee Walk transect training with Scarlett Weston
- General invertebrate recording with Keiron Brown and other London Natural History Society (LNHS) recorders.
Please note that the second option will involve individuals collecting, preserving and killing invertebrate specimens for identification purposes.
What will the day involve?
- Practical experience using a variety of methods to collect and record invertebrates.
- Practical experience in collecting and preserving specimens.
- A chance to meet fellow like-minded people from a range of different disciplines.
