Blue Ground Beetles are very rare and are currently only known from 15 sites in the UK; in Cornwall, Devon and South Wales.

Have you ever seen what you think might be a Blue Ground Beetle whilst out walking?

If you have a photo of it, no matter how long ago it was taken, we’d love it if you could share it with us.

Before submitting your record, please check the images on the ID guide very carefully, it is very easy to confuse this beetle with some of its more commonly seen relatives.  (you can also view the guide below by clicking “view more information“)

If you believe it is a Blue Ground Beetle, then please complete all of the sections on the form below and submit your record to us.

We will verify any records and follow up on any that look promising.

Please note that we receive a high number of records and so might not be able to contact you individually regarding your submission.  Additionally all fields are required but we will only contact you in relation to your beetle record.

Thank you very much for taking the time to submit your record though and for helping our project, it is much appreciated.
